Accessibility Statement
I want toddshipley.net to be usable by the widest possible audience, including people with disabilities. I aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C).
What's Been Done
Steps taken on this site include:
- A "skip to content" link on every page that lets keyboard users bypass repeated navigation
- Descriptive alt text on meaningful images
- One clearly ordered heading per page, starting with a single <h1>
- Labeled form fields on the contact form
- Visible keyboard focus outlines on links, buttons, and form fields
- Reduced-motion preferences respected (no animation for visitors who request it)
- Text and interface colors checked against WCAG contrast requirements and corrected where they fell short
Known Limitations
This has been a code-level review — checking markup, CSS color values, and computed contrast ratios. It has not yet been validated by a manual screen-reader walkthrough (VoiceOver, NVDA, or JAWS) or a full automated scan (axe, WAVE, or Lighthouse). If you use assistive technology and something doesn't work the way it should, I want to know — see below.

Accessibility is an ongoing effort, not a one-time fix. This statement describes my target and process, not a certification that every page meets every guideline at every moment.
